Ron Fawcett was the finest climber of his generation in Britain and possibly the world.
First tying into a rope in 1969 in Yorkshire he was instantly hooked.
From that first experience grew an obsession with the vertical world.
Within ten years he was the most famous climber in Britain and known around the globe.
His dedication to training led to massive leaps in climbing standards, pushing the limits of what was possible at a tremendous pace. His new routes stand as testament to his skill and boldness on many different types of rock.
He was Britain's first professional rock climber, appearing on the covers of magazines and on television.
However by the end of the 80's the novelty of the limelight had worn off and he started to climb less and less.
This book tells his story.
